Scenes from our last day in Ottawa

The locks at the Rideau Canal. It must take well over an hour to get out.

Crowd watching the changing of the guard.
And then they came marching off The Hill!
More bagpipes and marching -- heaven!

The sinkhole!  Scott is approaching the spot where the locksmith's van fell in. It is there evermore.
From the other direction.

The incredible Canadian War Museum. You could spend days there. Scott and I especially loved it, though, interestingly, we didn't find it as somber as we thought it should be. The parts we saw didn't glorify war by any means, but it didn't convey the sheer hell for those in combat or at home that much either.

Scott and Frances tried the bomber simulator.

OMG, what if lipstick was rationed?!

Scott's Grandpa Mac was in Normandy.

Back outside, all the territories and provinces were represented by their flowers on the light scarves (what are those things called?) -- so pretty!

We need ten days there, minimum.
