NEWFOUNDLAND!!!

I don't even know where to start. NEWFOUNDLAND IS FANTASTIC.
We flew 2+ hours from Ottawa to St. John's, got in our rental car, turned on the windshield wipers, and noticed the temperature outside:
Can you spot it?  13 degrees Celsius!  Shock.

But who cares, because St. John's is SO FABULOUS.  The greater population is over 200,000 people, and you get the feeling every one of them is friendly.   Our hotel, Blue on Water, is a super funky small (12 room) accommodation designed in an old building; it's been designed to show some of the old structure and brickwork. It took Scott a bit longer to warm to it due to a booking mixup (addressed in his next post).  It was love at first sight for the rest of us. And the attached restaurant was out of this world.

Caroline has a side of toutons, a local delicacy, a sort of deep fried pancake scone biscuit thing. Yum.

We fuelled up on food in order to get touristy. Anything for stamina.
