The last leg

How very cool to think we could drive to Prince Edward Island from NB, sans ferry. I can imagine how the Confederation Bridge must have divided Islanders; many feared the bridge would allow riff raff to come too easily. Others welcomed it and saw greater tourism and business opportunities. As visitors almost 20 years since it opened, it seems all those concerns and expectations have ironed out, as time does with these things. For us, it was just another piece of Canadian history, culture, and connectedness to enjoy.

Except that once you're on it, there's not much you can see.
