Pretty PEI

There are so many HUGE sandy beaches.  This one is known as Back Beach, and it's five minutes from the Inn by car. It was chilly, hence no one there. (Make no mistake, PEI gets flippin' hot when the sun is out; we were sweating much of the time.)

Then...
Cavendish Beach, by far the biggest crowd we'd seen since Ottawa. There was a sandcastle competition on.
Perfect sand for it.
Then...
Basin Head, voted #1 beach in Canada. It's also known as Singing Sands, because when you walk on the sand, it squeaks. Something to do with silica expanding.
The funnest part of Basin Head is the JUMPING!

Floating with the current.
Folks don't heed the 'no jumping' rule; there's even a lifeguard stationed by the canal and bridge. Clearly it's a local favourite pastime.  The beach itself is wonderful for reading and playing.

Then...

Greenwich Beach. This is a national park. We had to pay just under $20.00 to drive in and walk to the beach. I feel an angry letter to the powers that be coming on. I'm glad we went, because it too is gorgeous, but it would be nice if there was a more affordable half-day pass option.
It was clouding over and giving some respite from the intense heat.
Me: Girls, come for a selfie!
Them: Mum, no, stop it!  No one takes selfies!
Me: I do.
